Development update June 2016

Friday, June 3rd, 2016

Putney Exchange is currently undergoing some significant in-centre refurbishment to make way for some exciting new retailers.

Phase One saw the complete remodelling of the entrance to Putney High Street and the creation of new retail space over two levels.

Phase Two will see some very noticeable changes with the ground floor layout, involving the relocation of the passenger lifts and the removal of the spiral staircase with the intention of opening up the centre.

Due to the nature of the works, it is going to be necessary to temporarily relocate some of our existing businesses. Toystop will be moving to a unit on the ground floor next to Tiger and Phase Eight. The Flowersmith and the post box will be relocating to the first floor. Sky Retail will be moving to the other end of the ground floor mall, adjacent to Waitrose.

It is anticipated that the programme of works will take around nine months. The removal of the lifts and some of the associated works will inevitably cause inconvenience and disruption but we will be working really hard to reduce the pain in order to deliver these fantastic improvements. It will be really difficult for the retailers at first floor as well during these works so if we could ask for your continued support of them with your business during this time that would be great.

Significant investment into the shopping centre by the owners demonstrates confidence in Putney as a location. In response to the changing landscape of the Wandsworth area and the Putney High Street it is vital to ensure that future customer needs are met by attracting news brands and retailers to the Putney Exchange.
